At Plumtree Preschool, we believe every child is a unique and precious gift from God.

Greetings in Jesus’ name from the Plumtree Preschool Board. God is faithful, and we continue to lean on His wisdom and strength for this important ministry. The preschool opened its doors in September of 2010, reaching more than 20 kids and their families. Despite the hard work of many people connected with the school, the board made the difficult decision to close the school in mid-April following the resignation of our Director. Since that time, the board has been meeting to pray and discuss how best to move forward.

We continue to believe that God desires us to build this ministry as an outreach to our community and a powerful way to share the love and message of Jesus. To this end, we began to solicit resumes from qualified preschool lead teachers and directors and we met with the state licensing agency to determine the feasibility of re-opening the school this fall. While many of the necessary pieces were coming into place, it became apparent that we would not be fully prepared by September to enroll students in the type of Christ-centered, Biblically-sound preschool experience that has been our vision.

Therefore, the board has decided that the best course of action is to put Plumtree Preschool on hold for the coming school year and to focus on re-opening in the fall of 2012. The current members of the board are committed to carrying our vision forward as we lay a new foundation for the school we hope will become a life-changing ministry, touching many families in our community.

Our Mission and Philosophy

• We believe in having a routine that includes free time to learn through play and open ended activities, which helps to develop not only good social skills but language and cognitive development as well.
• We believe that children learn through example. Through staff role modeling, the children will learn how to treat each other with kindness, concern, and empathy.
• Small group activities will help inspire the love and interest of acquiring knowledge.
• Through fun in learning, we hope to help children accept themselves as God’s beautiful child with something wonderful to offer the world.

Plumtree Preschool is located at Evangelical Covenant Church, on the corner of Bradley and Plumtree in Springfield's Sixteen Acres neighborhood. We are just minutes fromWilbraham,East Longmeadow and Ludlow.
